What is Reflexology?

A holistic, non-invasive complementary therapy that treats the whole person — mind and body.

Reflexology is a holistic non-invasive complementary therapy, which treats the whole person – mind and body – helping the body find a state of balance and equilibrium.

Reflexologists believe that all parts and systems of the body (including limbs, organs, and glands) are mapped to points and areas on the feet, hands, lower leg, face and ears; and by working these points called reflexes, vital life force energy (referred to as Chi, Qi and Ki) is encouraged to flow more freely in the corresponding part of the body, assisting the body to self-heal and re-balance.

Reflexology is complementary to traditional western medicine, and is safe to be used alongside it to support your overall health and wellbeing. Reflexology does not claim to diagnose or cure conditions, and it is always recommended you consult your GP if you have any concerns about your health.

You can learn more about reflexology at Introduction to Reflexology – AoR.

Some frequently asked questions…

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different. Following an initial consultation I’ll suggest the number of reflexology sessions I think would be beneficial. Many people find a course of regular treatments works best to support the body’s natural balance, and experience the cumulative benefits over time in managing stress, improving sleep, and promoting overall wellbeing.

What happens in a treatment?

Your first session starts with a consultation, then a full investigatory treatment to help identify any areas of the body that may be out of balance — so I can create a bespoke plan tailored to you.

Is it suitable for me?

Reflexology is a gentle therapy that treats the whole person. It is particularly beneficial for relaxation, calming the mind, reducing stress, and supporting physical and emotional wellbeing. Similar to acupuncture I work on reflexes and acupressure points on the hands and feet, so if you don’t like needles, but are drawn to a treatment which incorporates principles aligned with the theory of Yin and Yang and helping the body find balance why not give it a try?!
